Authorization validity
Authorization is valid only for a limited amount of time where an approved amount shall be captured or reversed before its expiry. Card schemes follow different validity for authorization or pre-authorization.
It might be possible to capture/reverse a payment after an authorization has been expired but Worldline strongly recommends you to reverse or capture the authorized amount within the stipulated validity period set by respective schemes to avoid
the risk of capture/reversal failure
higher risk of cardholder chargeback
higher interchange & any integrity fee.
Authorization validity for different global card schemes
As Worldline requires a certain amount of processing time before a clearing record could be submitted to the card schemes, we suggest you to submit the reversal or capture of final authorization to us within 48h from the transaction initiation time.
Visa
Visa has the authorization to clearing/reversal time frame ranging from 1 day to 30 days depending on the authorization type, environment or MCC. Below are the timeframe applicable for European region.

* Reversal of final authorization (ECOM, MOTO) shall be made within 3 days.
** Reversal of pre-authorization for Taxicabs and limousines (4121), eating places and restaurants (5812), drinking places (5813) and amusement parks, circuses, carnivals and fortune tellers (7996) shall be made within 3 days but for other MCCs it shall be done within the authorization validity period.
